NLRI provide safety cover and support to The Last King of Scotland film production

Lake Rescue recently provided on-water safety for the props department of the Idi Amin big screen production crew, The Last King of Scotland. Adapted from the successful Giles Foden novel of the same name, this low-budget film starring Forest Whitaker was shot on location in Uganda, London and Scotland.

A couple of scenes in Uganda involved water and creating simulated detonations of the late and often reviled leaders famous Mig 17 bombing demonstrations that he loved to impress his visitors with. On one famous occasion, he was to bomb an island just off shore of the capital Kampala, with the Mig squadron dropping six bombs it is believed.

Not only did all the Migs miss their intended target on the island, they missed the island completely! The fate of the pilots thereafter is not known!

Lake Rescue RIB's provided mobile platforms for lighting rigs, for the dems team that simulated the explosions and general safety support throughout the filming of the water scenes.

Watch out for the release of the Last King of Scotland in UK during 2006.
