The National Lake rescue Institute NLRI is a Ugandan registered Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) Limited by Guarantee (Not for Profit) operating on the Great Lakes of East Africa with the mission of saving life on water and protecting the marine environment.

The NLRI recently commenced raising funds towards the launch of their flagship endeavor named, “Project Mercy”, which, by way of operating Mercy Mission barges on Lakes Victoria and Albert, will bring hope and healing to the peoples of these marine communities.

Owned and operated by the NLRI, these vessels will be provide a unique opportunity for NGO’s working in related fields to engage in the development of these marginalized marine based communities and achieve their own mission objectives.

This will enable these communities through the NLRI Project Mercy to gain access to medical care and other much needed basic facilities in their remote coastal areas around these two lakes.

With the necessary land based teams onboard, which, in addition to medical services and training, will provide leadership in long term sustainable developments such as local clinics and teaching health, sanitation, HIV/Aids, environmental protection, conservation and water safety as well as helping to provide wells for clear fresh water.
