NLRI supports Uganda’s first International Triathlon

On the 19th June 2005 Lake Rescue provided water safety cover for Uganda’s first ever international triathlon

Designed in the usual triathlon format with swim, cycle and run disciplines, the swim section involved an 800m splash out into the middle of the River Nile, around a couple of buoys and back to shore again.

Using two of the small NLRI training RIB’s with tiller steer engines, swimmers were shadowed throughout out their testing period in the water. One of the NLRI RIB’s doubled as a filming platform, allowing for the documentation of the event.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to Lake Rescue and we have been asked to provide cover again for next year’s event
